The Jellifish is a highly effective universal crash barrel lifting tool designed by John Ellis with safety, simplicity, and consistent performance in mind. Refined over years of development, this patented device is currently the only lifting tool configured specifically to accommodate most types and brands of crash barrels.

Crash barrel manufacturers, including PSS and TrafFix Devices, have lifting attachments that are brand specific. This means that if you try to lift a CrashGard® or Big Sandy® impact attenuator (Crash Barrel) with a device not from the corresponding manufacturer, it may not attach at all, or the barrel may disconnect mid-lift causing a mess of sand and/or potential bodily injury.

Our Jellifish device is meant to remedy this compatibility issue, and provide workers with a safe and secure means of lifting crash barrels, regardless of brand. The Jellifish is rated to handle up to 2,500 lbs, each Jellifish is tested by a 3rd party facility at 3,125 lbs. When it passes, a tag is placed on the unit signifying the approval.

The process of using the Jellifish is purposefully uncomplicated. While it can lift a significant amount of weight, the device itself weighs only 60 lbs., allowing workers to easily transport it in the included storage bag and attach it to the machine’s hook while still in the bag. When the bag is removed and the Jellifish is exposed, the machine operator can center the Jellifish over the sand barrel needing to be lifted. The worker on the ground then connects the grab hook with the tail part of the chain, securing the Jellifish to the barrel.

When no longer needed for the day, the Jellifish can be lowered into the storage bag and unfastened from the machine. It’s truly as simple as that!

The success of the Jellifish is the result of John Ellis’ experience in the construction equipment and traffic safety supply industry. Designed to improve jobsite safety and make it easier for workers to lift and transport sand-filled crash barrels.
