Industry veteran John Ellis created the Jellifish, a highly useful universal traffic barrel lift, to be simple, safe, and operate at peak performance over time. Perfected after years of careful development, the patented Jellifish is at this point in time the singular crash barrel lifting tool on the market designed with the express goal of successfully handling a majority of brands and types.

Many companies that produce sand barrels for use on construction projects and more, such as TrafFix Devices and PSS Innovations, have manufactured lifting attachments meant only to work with their particular brands. Unfortunately, what this means is that if you attempt to use one manufacturer’s hoisting tool on a barrel from a different brand, such as using a CrashGard® traffic barrel lift on a Big Sandy® barrel or vice versa, a variety of problems may occur. As examples, the lift may fail to attach completely, or the barrel could come loose part way through the lift causing sand to spill out and possibly cause injury to those in the immediate vicinity.

We created the Jellifish device to address this serious problem, and enable workers to hoist crash barrels safely and securely no matter what brands are being used. Now when crews need to lift a Big Sandy® barrel or one from another manufacturer, they don’t need to worry about whether the lifting device they have on hand will get the job done. The Jellifish itself can lift up to 2,500 lbs, and each unit is thoroughly tested via a trusted third party facility for lifting up to 3,125 lbs. When a Jellifish lift meets the strict testing standards, it receives a tag approving it for real world use.

Top Crash Barrel Hoisting Device

It’s incredibly easy for workers to use the Jellifish crash barrel hoist day in and day out. Despite the fact that it can safely raise up a substantial amount of weight, the tool comes in at a comparatively light 60 lbs. As such, crews can effortlessly transport the Jellifish using the storage bag that comes with it and even connect the device to a machine hook while it remains within the bag. When it’s time to take the bag off and lift the barrel, machine operators simply position the Jellifish where appropriate and have someone on the ground fasten the hoist to the barrel using the grab hook and chain. Once the barrel lifting is done for the day, the Jellifish can easily be returned to the storage bag and disconnected from the equipment.
